Code of Conduct

The rules & regulations listed here were created to keep the Carrots eventing community safe in all CEA sanctioned events and are to be followed by each and every CEA member. Failure to comply will result in the elimination of the horse and rider from any and all CEA events until further notice! 

Reasonable Doubt Clause

If the CEA, for any reason doubt your horse's ability to perform be it at an individual event or at a certain level retain the right to update your horse's level or disqualify your horse from the current competition. All competitors in question will receive notice prior to the event and the owner will be given the option to prove that their horse can compete at the level in question by providing the CEA with evidence that the equine in question is capable of performing!

Horse's may only enter into 1 division each year. Year end results will determine the horse's eligibility for advancement. Please see "Advancement Requirements" for more information.


Age Requirements 

  • FEH - 3yrs or younger
  • YEH - 4yrs to 5yrs (YEH horses are eligible to compete at the BN level as well)
  • Beginner Novice to Training - horses must be a minimum of 4yrs
  • Preliminary to Intermediate - horses must be a minimum of 5yrs
  • Advanced - horses must be a minimum of 6yrs

Horses entering into Introductory star competitions:

Introductory 1 & 2 star (Prelim - Inter) must be at least 6yrs of age.

3 Star Competition (Advanced CIC/CCI***) must be at least 7yrs of age

4 Star Competition & 3 Star Championships must be at least 8yrs of age.

** Championships is defined as qualifying competitions for world and international competitions (WEG or Olympia). These are CEA only hosted events!


Membership

Hosting

  • Membership to the CEA is renewed on a yearly basis. Carrots members do not have to be a member of the CEA to compete as an Eventer however, all Championships and CEA awards are restricted to CEA members only.
  • Only horses registered within the CEA will have their competition careers tracked through the CEA system.
  • Only CEA members & horses will qualify for year end awards and HOF nominations.
  • Only CEA members & registered stallions will be recognized through the CEA breeding programs and be showcased in our yearly stallion parade.
  • Only Members of the CEA are eligible to host CEA sanctioned events.
  • Non Members are more than welcome to host Horse Trial events, please not that the points earned at HT events will not count towards qualifications. 
  • CEA members who wish to host a CEA sanctioned event can do so by visiting our "Host Event" page and submitting an application.
  • CEA sanctioned events offer larger cash rewards as well as international qualifications.

CIC & CCI Events

  • Any CEA member with the appropriate location may host a sanctioned CIC & CCI event upto the 3 star level. 
  • All 4 star events and 3 star championships are restricted to the CEA.
  • HT events are NOT eligible for CIC/CCI levels. 

Points & Rewards

The CEA follows the Carrots point system and will reward appropriately. All CEA sanctioned events will offer prize money to the top 5 competitors of each division, CIC/CCI and International events will incur larger rewards.
